Riba-roja D’Ebre, Catalunya – April 18th, 2025
Crazy day’s fishing today with Dave in changeable winds and warm conditions above the Riba dam on the mighty Ebro River.
Heavy baiting from the start with a lot of quality roach and small bream for each of us on waggler and corn in around 16 feet of water – with the level dropping about a foot during the day.
The only disappointment was no photo of my river monster. I knew it was big when it started nodding and not moving off the bottom. When it’s silver flank and deep girth flashed at the net, I knew it was special.
Scales were at the ready but, as I flipped the hook out with the disgorger, it leapt out of my hand, caught the landing net frame and fell into the lake, speeding away with no pics or weight.
Pictured is a 2.2 that Dave also caught which would have put my best of the day between 2.10 and 2.14👹
We ended up with around 100 fish with the majority of roach around the 6-8oz mark and bream up to a pound.
