A final morning in Ajman before a switch to Deira and old Dubai. Managed to get to the end of the XCAT race and sample a little hospitality before a bit of nostalgia at the Boardwalk and the new Park Hyatt at the Dubai Creek GC.
This was my favourite golf course back in the day and a place I loved playing and watched the Desert Classic when it moved here for a short time in the 90s. Even this venue has changed so much since those great carefree days.
Then, a delightful walk from the Crown Plaza through classic Deira and along the water front to the chaos of the souks with a stop-off for an excellent late chicken and rice lunch at a lovely Yemeni restaurant by the gold souk.
A fascinating stroll back along the Dubai Creek Waterfront as the sun set with abras and dhows ferrying passengers across to Bur Dubai and back in one of the forgotten gems of the emirate. Even the Claridge Hotel is still there in Baniyas…
