Back after a year’s absence – it’s the Jordan Baja in stunning Wadi Rum this weekend after a three-hour plus drive south from Amman this morning.

The anus of the airport world – MAN T1 – yesterday. No RJ lounge access, feral kids running round, games machines blaring, headless chickens wandering around buried in their phones, a blasting tannoy, a phone signal that barely works for an internet hotspot and a security bun fight.

Welcome to third world Britain.
