Sohar, Oman, January 24th-25th, 2025

Great to see a modern-day organising team moving away from routine and trying a new route and a new host venue for a long-established car rally. This was the 28th running of the Oman International Rally and the first time the event has been held in Sohar, around 205km north of Muscat.

The Chairman of the Organising Committee also tells me that a basic route has already been devised for a rally in stunning Salalah in the south with a giant stage cascading down to the sea that would eclipse the Jordan River as the longest in the Middle East.

World-class flowing stages, stunning terrain and a challenging weekend all round. It was great to be back after an 18-year absence. Mabruk Oman…
