US Road Trip 2024 – Day 6
Day 6: Idaho Falls to Bozeman via Jackson, Old Faithful and West Yellowstone.
An early start out of Idaho Falls and an initial 100-mile run east into Wyoming and breakfast in Jackson Hole. The weather was closing in as I left Idaho and crossed the state line before taking on the sinuous Teton Pass (8431ft).
From there, I headed up the 191 into the heart of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks to pass Old Faithful, before crossing into Montana through West Yellowstone and Big Sky and on to a night stop in the stunning city of Bozeman after another gruelling six hours in traffic and bad weather.
The weather closed in badly on the run through Grand Teton and the passage into Yellowstone was in a torrential thunderstorm with fork lightning.
It had eased slightly on the run north to the geothermal region and was just a heavy drizzle for the lunch stop across the state line in West Yellowstone.
On arrival in Bozeman, it was 25C.
